Welcome Austin Grouponies! I’m excited to get to know you all in the coming year. Please remember to sign up by 1/11/2011! Sign up expires on that date. This ensures everyone will be able to reserve their session.

SESSIONS WILL BE HELD ONE WEEKEND PER MONTH. When you are looking over the schedule and figuring out when to book you will notice that only the dates that are available are listed. You can see each and every date that is available for the coming year by scrolling through each month. Sessions are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE so the sooner you book, the better chance you will have at finding a date that works for you.

The first weekend sessions will be held on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22. Morning sessions will be at Laguna Gloria, 3809 West 35th Street
Austin, TX 78703. Afternoon sessions will be at Mayfield Park, 3505 West 35th St.

Sessions will also be held on Nov. 27-28 at Mayfield Park.

STEP ONE: Book your appointment online. This is the place to reserve your appointment date and time. (No money is collected here.) Please remember to enter your Groupon code when you see the field for it on the form.

I believe in a new school that opened up in the area recently called Magellan International School. I met these great people through the school. I was glad to hear all about it, since I’m always curious to hear how things are going. During our session we hit the fabulous Hotel San Jose on SoCo, then headed onto the Long Center. Love these perfect fall days!

Wall Inspire: Pottery Barn Guides

Pottery Barn has a great tool for decorating tips. I found some tips for wall displays. Find them all here: How To Create a Memory Wall, Three Tiered Display and Gallery Display.

Three Tiered Display: A simple three-tiered display is ideal for small spaces such as the bathroom or study area. Begin by choosing two long rectangular frames to hold 3-5 small portraits or photos. Hang these two frames horizontally on top of one another about 12-16 inches apart, depending on the size of your space. Hang 3-4 medium frames between the top and bottom rectangular frames. This will create a tight square-shaped display, perfect for small spaces.

This little girl was game for being photographed, all 17 months of her. Little people are so wonderful. Everyone hung in there and we had a great session.

Today’s session was with a family of four. Number four was a wee 12 weeks old but held his own in the photo shoot, for sure. I am in awe of families who have kids close in age, as this family does. I have a family of four myself and it’s harder than it looks! It was a great session on a beautiful day with a fun, sweet family.

The warmth radiating from this family was palpable. What a fun session! Their little boy wasn’t quite a year old. He was bold and brave, taking on the steps without fear. I love sensing the intellect in the little ones that can’t quite talk yet but you know so, so much is going on in there. I got a sense this little one will be unstoppable. Sweetest family. Sharp as a tack little dude. Great session!

I photographed the most wonderful mother-son session recently. I hadn’t “seen” this little boy since he was inside his mama’s belly so today I got to meet him. I could tell when photographing him that he is a special kid and I think it comes through in the photographs. I could also see that this mama and little boy have a sweet, tender, loving connection. I am so happy to have been able to work with these clients…

I was amazed at this little girl. She has the most darling ringlets and sweet little expressions. She was into our session whole-heartedly and was so much fun to work with. This was a mother-daughter session and I love these type of sessions. The backdrop is the Carlyle House in Old Town, Alexandria.

With all my friendships, in all aspects of my life, I am honored to be called “friend.” This session was for long-time clients turned friends. I am honored to be trusted to be the family archivist and to be invited to witness their lives. This trip to D.C. has made me so nostalgic and sentimental! Anyway, guys, I am thrilled we got to work together while I was in town…I am over the moon with the results of the session. Can’t wait for you to see them all!

The signup fee is $100 for a 30 minute session and includes your sitting fee, post-processing work and an online gallery for 2 weeks.

DIGITAL PACKAGE OPTION: Your signup fee of $550 will include a Digital Image Collection—meaning you will receive all your digital files. Portrait Session: Austin Portrait Photographer 2/2010

Yesterday I had a great session with some friends of mine in Austin. It was so hard editing this session because I love these little ones so much. I find that my camera lets me see into those I photograph sometimes more than with the eyes and heart. When you take the time, a whole two hours, just to take pictures of somebody I think that sometimes, if you’re lucky, a little glimpse into the soul can be seen. With little ones, I think sometimes I can see a bit of who they are, deep inside, behind age 18 months but a little of the eternal. I can see the magic in these kids. I always feel lucky when they’ll show it to me.
