Yesterday I had a fantastic shoot for the fabulous store Red Barn Mercantile located in Old Town, Alexandria. From the first moment I walked in the store I was in love. “The finest mix of old and new…” The aesthetic is oh so me – a mix of vintage and modern. For the shoot I kept that idea in mind and created some vintagey flair images for the store. I’m excited about this new relationship – stop by the store sometime to see examples of my work: 113 South Columbus Street Alexandria, Virginia 22314. Head to the back of the store to check out the great children’s section.

Lizzy & Matt 8/2/08

Elizabeth and Matthew were married this past Saturday at Boars Head Inn in Charlottesville, VA. I cry at weddings all the time. But let me just say that at this one I couldn’t hide the tears. I actually had to remove the camera (several times) and wipe my entire wet face. The emotions swung widely from tears of joy to exuberant celebration. Even though this crowd was international, traveling from around the world to be there, I think this was a classic American wedding anyway. The details, setting and ambiance were lively but classic. Matt & Lizzy were also classic, composed & kind. The tales woven through the toasts were visual and immediate, and oh so touching. The highlight of the wedding was the rain right in the middle of the ceremony. The event was not interrupted and all carried on. Luckily only a few welcome sprinkles came down. And sisters – what a beautiful homage to sisters this wedding was. Their bond was felt by all, I’m certain. I literally tear up again looking at the images of that bond, captured. So much more to say about this wedding…but instead I’ll do it with pictures. Congratulations to this sweet couple!
